Crystie and I went to an amazing old city in the south of italy last summer, called matera.

One of the oldest , continuously inhabited towns in the world it is amazingly beautiful… and empty. A friend explained that because people lived in such poverty here in the 30´s, there is a giant stigma about the “sassi” and no-one from here wants to live here!!! They have built a new town that faces away from the old town, even though it is one of the most amazing views I have ever seen. Many films have been made here, including “the passion of christ” and its unesco protected. Amazing!

Here are some caves you can see on the other side of the gorge… we climbed up there, Clare, Crystie, a brass band and I. It was a stormy day, and our hair literally began to stand on end, which made us pretty nervous, we thought we might be lightning attractive.. but it was pretty funny! wish i had a photo of it!

Inside the caves there were some amazing paintings on the caves, from a long time ago… i dont know when. some had grafitti over the top sadly, but some were in ok condition.

Here we are in Wurzburg, Germany, Playing the Stramu festival which was made a lot more fun by the legendary Mark Gillespie and Thomas Drost who took us under their wings and let us use their massive sound system. We rocked it!

awwwww……

A nice thing about travelling and performing is that you cross paths with some really great photographers and have a mutually beneficial photo moment… heres some of my top pick pics from the summer of 2009… mainly from ludwigsburg in southern Germany, and one lil snap of Ruben in Macedonia…
